Women’s and Gender History is a thriving field of study at Penn State. Faculty do research on diverse topics including women and the twentieth-century American welfare state; women and Islam; and gender and nationalism from eighteenth-century France to modern India. We offer undergraduate survey courses on U. S. and European women’s history. Regular graduate-level seminars expose students to the most current thinking in the field. A Gender History Workshop offers a venue for exchange of current scholarship, and the Dual Title Degree Program in Women’s Studies provides interdisciplinary training.
